It seems X Factor 2008 was the most successful series ever as I can reveal that another contestant, Ruth Lorenzo, is on the verge of making it big.

I spotted the Spanish senorita at the opening night of new musical Burn The Floor and predicted she looked like a girl motivated by an interesting project and I was clearly right.

But it was a lot closer to home than I predicted as Ruth has been talking about starring in the hit dance show that has just started at London’s Shaftesbury Theatre after transferring from Broadway in association with PGT entertainment .

Talks are so advanced that Ruth was spotted in London’s Colony restaurant with PGT Entertainment CEO and Burn The Floor producer Harley Medcalf.

If she got it she’d follow in the footsteps of her 2008 rival Diana Vickers, who starred in West End show Little Voice.

How amazing for Ruth! Although Burn The Floor is primarily a dance show, performers have awesome vocal skills and the former talent show contest winner would be able to show she was the real deal.

About time someone from that show could sing AND dance…rather doing a token gymnastic back flip like JLS, standing there  swaying like Alexandra Burke or falling off stages like Jedward…

The Food / Drinks: Not 100% sure – we weren’t there – but we wanted an excuse to use the photo of Dizzee. Presumably there was some kind of ice cream, given that it was a hot day and by a beach. We would have ordered a Mr Whippy from the ice cream van if we’d been there…

The Gossip: (1) The photo of Dizzee was taken in the gifting suite organised by Montgomery Ellis. Dizzee did well there, also picking up a Storm watch.

(2) Alexandra Burke looked as if she was picking up a new wardrobe from Miss Selfridge in the gifting lounge. These celebs are so lucky!

(3) Edward Grimes (one half of X Factor crazy twins Jedward) broke his leg on stage and had to be ferried to hospital in an ambulance. He mistimed a jump off the stage and landed badly on his leg.

However, he still carried on and finished the performance before going to the ambulance. Criticise Jedward all you like, but that dedication deserves respect. Check Jedward’s website to see how they’re getting on / show them some sympathy

We were lucky enough to catch Alexandra Burke performing her hits at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Smartphone last night.

That girl has a serious voice on her and sounded great.

We just wonder how she manages to dance in those heels!

Tonight we’re going to two events – the premiere of the Bollywood film Raavan with stars Aishwarya Rai Bachan and Abhishek Bachan and then Reveal magazine’s summer party with King of the dance Louie Spence and more…

Tomorrow we have our mitts on the hottest ticket in town – Richard Branson’s pre-Wimbledon party at Kensington Roof Gardens.

THE GOSSIP: Alexandra Burke and Matthew Williamson had obviously made full advantage of the cocktails (which were served inside pineapples) and were tearing up the dance floor. Those guys have some serious moves.

Minnie Driver was looking very thin and spent her time chatting away to Tyrone Wood who was constantly surrounded by admiring girls.

The after party was at Mahiki and everyone was hitting the dancefloor to all the great party tracks spun by Tom Crane.
